If the cold weather is bringing you down, look no further than Lipsy London’s just launched SS15 collection with Michelle Keegan. Full of florals, fluro pinks and elegant laces, this collection will have you Spring Summer ready with just a few staple pieces. This is the Corrie actress’ fifth collection for Lipsy, but her first for the Spring season. When asked about her debut into spring and summer wear, she expressed her excitement as “it’s such a fun time in fashion.” Here are our top picks of Lipsy’s new line:
Mad for Monochrome – this black and white shorts and cropped blazer combo provides a sexy twist on tailoring, and is sophisticated enough to dress down with dark tights and flats at the office, or glam up with some heels at the weekend. Shorts have been a huge fashion staple this year and are no longer reserved for summer holidays, so dare to bare your legs all year round. Team these with a simple black or white blouse and some sparkling accessories.
Fabulous Floral – nothing screams Spring quite like a fresh floral number, but the new season sees us moving away from kitsch floral prints and towards elegant, beautiful designs. Sorry Cath Kidston, but your reign is over. This black number has some incredible detail but is also simple enough to be something of a staple item. Keep it classy with black heels and a black blazer, and you can wear this to several parties with no shame.
Perfectly Pink – the cropped look rose dramatically in 2013 and won’t be going away any time soon. Cropped sweaters and blouses are a great alternative to barely-there pieces of skimpy fabric, as they can be styled for casual wear and evening wear. Less is actually more with the cropped style, and a little flesh is much more tantalising than baring it all. The sweet colour of this sweater balances out its cut, and would look great over a black pencil skirt in the week, or with jeans at the weekend.
Loving Lace – lace is another trend that we’ll be seeing more of next year, and is being used in more inventive ways than ever. Lace paneling is a great way to show off a little skin while also hiding any imperfections, and can look smart and sexy at the same time. This blouse combines a soft shape with a sharp, cute collar, and could be tucked into tailored trousers, or worn loose over some skinny jeans. The lace makes the transition from office wear to party wear easier than ever.
Stylish Spring Cover-Ups – the biker jacket has become a staple trend in outerwear, and this pale pink number not only brings a feminine touch to a classic look, but also slots in with Spring colours. The faux fur collar is bang on trend but not too intrusive, keeping the clean, sharp lines of the jacket in check, and setting it aside from the over-sized overcoats of winter.
Classy Co-ords – if you want to be bang on trend next year then matching is the way to do it. Two pieces and sets are growing more popular, and thankfully designers are using complimentary patterns to suit both halves of the body. This monochrome skirt and top work perfectly as separate pieces, but are instantly striking when put together. Keep your eyes peeled for versatile pieces like these on the high street.
Tailored Chic – with the arrival of better weather, SS15 also banishes covering up in huge coats, capes and jumpers, and focuses on showing off your best assets with chic tailoring. These leggings are the same thickness as a good trouser, and have panels at the front to prevent the sagging you might get with cheaper leggings. Leggings don’t have to equal casual wear – well-tailored versions can give you a better shape than any trouser.
